Alerts, Notifications & Escalations
Get the right message to the right person on the right channel — and escalate if they don't answer.

In complex manufacturing, the difference between a small problem and a big one is usually who found out first — and how quickly. Alerts, Notifications & Escalations is the discipline of turning operational signals (a machine down, a shipment late, a shortage emerging, a quality reject spike, a milestone missed) into a routed, tracked and escalatable message to the person accountable for the outcome. If they do not acknowledge it, the ladder escalates. Nothing sits in a shared inbox, and no alert storm buries the one message that mattered.
The message layer your operations run on
Alerts are only useful if they reach the accountable person, they are acted on within a defined window, and the outcome is auditable. Qmuzik treats each of those as a first-class part of the platform, not an afterthought bolted on the edge.
Every signal

The right person, the right channel, the right window
Not everyone reads email. Not everyone is at their desk. Not everyone is on the shop floor. Qmuzik knows which role owns the outcome, which channel reaches them fastest right now, and which secondary channel to fall back on if the first does not respond. Shift patterns and on-call rosters are respected out of the box — an alert at 03:00 does not sit in a mailbox until 08:00.

Everything needed to detect, route, acknowledge, escalate and audit — natively integrated with the same system that plans, produces, ships and bills.
Rule-driven event detection
Any signal the enterprise can see — thresholds, milestones, exceptions, drift, patterns, external events — can fire an alert against a defined rule.
Accountable-role routing
Alerts go to the role that owns the outcome — buyer, planner, supervisor, quality lead, maintenance engineer — not a shared distribution list where ownership dissolves.
Multi-channel delivery
Email, SMS, in-app, push, Microsoft Teams, phone and webhook out of the box. The channel is selected per role, per severity and per time of day.
Shift and on-call awareness
Rosters, shift patterns and on-call schedules are honoured natively. Off-shift alerts route to the on-call person, not to a mailbox that opens at 08:00.
Acknowledgement tracking
Every alert waits for the accountable person to accept ownership. If it is not acknowledged inside the defined window, the ladder starts.
Escalation ladders
Configurable per rule: escalate to the next tier after N minutes, then to the tier above after M more, with different channels at each rung.
Severity and prioritisation
Critical, high, advisory — each severity gets its own routing pattern, channel mix and acknowledgement window, so a nice-to-know does not wake anyone at 02:00.
Suppression and grouping
Related events are grouped into one message and duplicate alerts are suppressed — so the important message is not buried in an alert storm.
Full audit trail
Every alert, acknowledgement, escalation and resolution is captured against the operational record — for continuous improvement and for the auditor.
How it works
From detected event to closed loop — six steps, one message layer.
- 1
Detect
The operational system spots the event — a threshold breach, a missed milestone, an exception, a drift, a pattern — using rules defined in the same platform that runs the business.
- 2
Classify
Severity, category and the accountable role are determined by rule — so the moment the event fires, the platform already knows how important it is and who owns it.
- 3
Route
Delivered to the accountable person on the right channel for the moment — email, SMS, in-app, Teams, push, phone — respecting shift, on-call, time-of-day and role preferences.
- 4
Acknowledge
The accountable person accepts ownership within a defined window. Until that happens, the alert is still open — no shared inbox where responsibility can dissolve.
- 5
Escalate
If the acknowledgement window closes without a response, the ladder starts — next tier, next channel, next window — configured per rule and per severity.
- 6
Resolve
Resolution is captured against the original event — closing the loop for reporting, continuous improvement and the audit trail.
No shared inboxes, no alert storms
The two failure modes of most notification systems are shared inboxes — nobody owns it, everyone assumes someone else has — and alert storms, where a hundred related messages fire and the one that matters gets buried. Qmuzik routes to a specific accountable role, suppresses duplicates and groups related events, so what lands is the message that needs a decision. Alert fatigue drops, response times drop, and the operational signal actually gets acted on.

Common questions about Alerts, Notifications & Escalations
Which channels are supported?
Email, SMS, in-app, push, Microsoft Teams, phone and webhook natively. Channel selection can be per role, per severity, per time of day and per shift — so the delivery matches the moment.
Can it respect shift patterns and on-call rosters?
Yes. Shifts, rosters and on-call schedules are first-class inputs. An overnight alert routes to the on-call person for that shift, not to a mailbox that will only be opened when the day team logs in.
How do escalation ladders work?
Each rule can define a ladder: if the accountable role does not acknowledge inside N minutes, escalate to the next tier; if that tier does not respond inside M minutes, escalate again. Channels, windows and tiers are configurable per severity.
What prevents alert storms?
Duplicate suppression and event grouping. Related events roll into one message, repeated firings are deduplicated inside a configurable window, and severity rules ensure a low-severity signal does not push a critical one off the top of the queue.
Can end users configure their own subscriptions?
Within the business rules, yes. Users can tune the channels they receive alerts on and their preferences per time of day; the accountable-role assignments and severity policies remain under governance so ownership does not accidentally drift.
Does it integrate with Teams / Slack / PagerDuty-style tools?
Microsoft Teams is supported natively. Slack, PagerDuty and similar tools are supported through the webhook channel so an existing incident-response tool can be part of the ladder without losing the enterprise audit trail.
How is an alert's outcome audited?
Every alert, acknowledgement, escalation step and resolution is captured against the original operational event — retrievable by rule, by role, by shift or by date range, for as long as your retention policy requires.
